The Reign on Lame Falls Mainly On McCain

Printer Friendly

By: Ann Coulter

Last night was truly a historic occasion: For only the second time in her adult life, Michelle Obama was proud of her country!

The big loser of this election is Colin Powell, whose last-minute endorsement of Obama put the Illinois senator over the top. Powell was probably at home last night, yelling at his TV, "Are you KIDDING me? That endorsement was sarcastic!"

The winner, of course, is Obama, who must be excited because now he can start hanging out in public with Bill Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright again. John McCain is a winner because he can resume buying more houses.

And we're all winners because we will never again have to hear McCain say, "my friends."

After Bill Clinton won the 1992 presidential election, Hillary Clinton immediately announced that, henceforth, she would be known as "Hillary Rodham Clinton." So maybe Obama can now become B. Hussein Obama, his rightful name.

This was such an enormous Democratic year that even John Murtha won his congressional seat in Pennsylvania after calling his constituents racists. It turns out they're not racists -- they're retards. Question: What exactly would one have to say to alienate Pennsylvanians? That Joe Paterno should retire?

Apparently Florida voters didn't mind Obama's palling around with Palestinian activist Rashid Khalidi and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, either. There must be a whole bunch of retired Pennsylvania Jews down there.

Have you ever noticed that whenever Democrats lose presidential elections, they always blame it on the personal qualities of their candidate? Kerry was a dork, Gore was a stiff, Dukakis was a bloodless android, Mondale was a sad sack.

This blame-the-messenger thesis allows Democrats to conclude that their message was fine -- nothing should be changed! The American people are clamoring for higher taxes, big government, a defeatist foreign policy, gay marriage, the whole magilla. It was just this particular candidate's personality.

Republicans lost this presidential election, and I don't blame the messenger; I blame the message. How could Republicans go after B. Hussein Obama (as he is now known) on planning to bankrupt the coal companies when McCain supports the exact same cap and trade policies and earnestly believes in global warming?

How could we go after Obama for his illegal alien aunt and for supporting driver's licenses for illegal aliens when McCain fanatically pushed amnesty along with his good friend Teddy Kennedy?

How could we go after Obama for Jeremiah Wright when McCain denounced any Republicans who did so?

How could we go after Obama for planning to hike taxes on the "rich," when McCain was the only Republican to vote against both of Bush's tax cuts on the grounds that they were tax cuts for the rich?

And why should Republican activists slave away working for McCain when he has personally, viciously attacked: John O'Neill and the Swift Boat Veterans, National Right to Life director Doug Johnson, evangelical pastors Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and John Hagee, various conservative talk radio hosts, the Tennessee Republican Party and on and on and on?

As liberal Democrat E.J. Dionne Jr. exuded about McCain in The Washington Post during the Republican primaries, "John McCain is feared by Democrats and liked by independents." Dionne proclaimed that McCain "may be the one Republican who can rescue his party from the undertow of the Bush years."

Similarly, after unelectable, ultraconservative Reagan won two landslide victories, James Reston of The New York Times gave the same advice to Vice President George H.W. Bush: Stop being conservative! Bush was "a good man," Reston said in 1988, "and might run a strong campaign if liberated from Mr. Reagan's coattails."

Roll that phrase around a bit -- "liberated from Mr. Reagan's coattails." This is why it takes so long to read the Times -- you have to keep reading the same paragraph over again to see if you missed a word.

Bush, of course, rode Reagan's ultraconservative coattails to victory, then snipped those coattails by raising taxes and was soundly defeated four years later.

I keep trying to get Democrats to take my advice (stop being so crazy), but they never listen to me. Why do Republicans take the advice of their enemies?

How many times do we have to run this experiment before Republican primary voters learn that "moderate," "independent," "maverick" Republicans never win, and right-wing Republicans never lose?

Indeed, the only good thing about McCain is that he gave us a genuine conservative, Sarah Palin. He's like one of those insects that lives just long enough to reproduce so that the species can survive. That's why a lot of us are referring to Sarah as "The One" these days.

Like Sarah Connor in "The Terminator," Sarah Palin is destined to give birth to a new movement. That's why the Democrats are trying to kill her. And Arnold Schwarzenegger is involved somehow, too. Good Lord, I'm tired.

After showing nearly superhuman restraint throughout this campaign, which was lost the night McCain won the California primary, I am now liberated to announce that all I care about is hunting down and punishing every Republican who voted for McCain in the primaries. I have a list and am prepared to produce the names of every person who told me he was voting for McCain to the proper authorities.

We'll start with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. Then we shall march through the states of New Hampshire and South Carolina -- states that must never, ever be allowed to hold early Republican primaries again.

For now, we have a new president-elect. In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president.

Starting tomorrow, if not sooner.

Indeed, the only good thing about McCain is that he gave us a genuine conservative, Sarah Palin.

Now THAT is funny.

Unless, of course, you believe that conservatives don't know basic civics, doesn't know what the Vice-President's job is, doesn't know the members of NAFTA and doesn't know Africa is a continent, not a country.

Oh, but does believe that Alaska should secede from the Union.

Personally, I believe that conservatives are better informed than that.

Still wrong on nearly every issue, but better informed.

kevind said "Oh, but does believe that Alaska should secede from the Union."

I hope they do secede fromt he union. What benefit do they receive now by being in the union? Once they secede, then they will be able to drill in ANWR and then sell the oil to the highest bidder. We know the US won't want it because they could have it now for free but refuse to go and get it. Alaska's citizens will all be rich. No liberal there to tell them they can't be rich and that being rich isn't fair.

Once the UAW and the democrats successfully dismantle the auto industry here in Detroit, I'll be moving up there to help push the issue.

The world responded to Obama pretty much the way I expected. Russia is putting Nuclear missiles on the polish border because they know Obama the Coward will back down. Same thing with Iran Congratulations on getting elected now stay away from our Nuclear Plants. Again Obama will do nothing. France and Germany are peeing all over themselves thinking that now America will be nothing but a 3rd rate socialist nation just like they are. Cuba and the other Dictator run South American Nations are also falling all over themselves with joy as they have a Communist Ally on the White House.
It is no wonder 3 card Monte is the hustlers game of choice. All it takes is a fast talking con man and BAM.. 52% of Americans lined up to play.
As the window in my Durango say's
WELCOME TO OBAMMUNIST AMERICA

McCain didn't lose. America did.

McCain/Palin were pulling ahead in the polls until the economic meltdown. I wouldn't put it past the Democrats to have engineered the economic crisis just to influence the election. I'm not sure they actually had the capability to do it, but I find it to be something to think about.

Great column, Ann!

But, there is more than one positive from this election:

1 - Yes, we have been blessed with the arrival of Sarah-cuda Palin - a true conservative;

2 - We won't see John McCain run for president again;

3 - Shrillary Clinton has forever been eliminated in her bid for the presidency since B. Hussein Obama is sure to get the Democratic nod in 2012 as the incumbent, which means she has to wait for 2016. And, should B. Hussein Obama be defeated in 2012 by a true conservative Republican and become a 1 term president, Shrillary may have to wait for a 2 term conservative Republican, which would put her presidential aspirations on hold until 2020 because she wouldn't want to run against a Republican incumbent;

4 - Several "moderate" Republicans have been removed from both houses of congress.

Conservative Republicans, hang in there. This is by no means over!

Much like the people who make up the polls, I expect that I'll also not be contacted by you, Ann, as I certainly didn't vote for McCain in the Primary.

I have been very frustrated with McCain and his camp since he became the nominee. Of all the kitchen utensils the Republicans could have pulled out to run ... they chose a plastic spork.

That's not to say McCain didn't have his moments; he was pretty funny at dinners and on SNL, but his campaign was certainly no laughing matter.

In retrospect, I firmly believe that McCain was the Republican's version of Kerry: the straw man that was never intended to win. Cannon fodder.

I'm just going to cling to my guns and my Bible and tough out the next for years. We had to go through Carter to get to Reagan.

Your pal,
Meat.

Regardless of how liberal John McCains version of conservative might be. Keep in mind the mandeserves credit for two things at least.
1) Sarah Palin
2) and certainly not least, we had a chance to have a real live war hero in the white house.
So God bless him for his service and God bless him for finding Sarah.

Posted by: deacondad [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 6, 2008 01:10 PM

Regardless of Senator McCain's war hero status - he did not fight for the presidency.

No one has impugned his war hero status - ever. No one has impugned his service to his country and his torture as a POW. His service has been honored over and over and over and over. It does not need endless repeating.

Being a war hero does not, in and of itself, qualify someone for the presidency.

What was Senator McCain willing to fight for during this campaign? All he worried about was:
- do not use Obama's middle name and publicly reprimanded and distanced himself from anyone who did;
- don't mention Rev. Wright and publicly reprimanded and distanced himself from anyone who did;
- don't mention Bill Ayers and other radicals;
- don't mention Obama's involvement with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac until it was way too late;
- don't hammer home that the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac fiasco was a Democrat designed failure that all Democrats, including B. Hussein Obama, ran interference for so the money could keep rolling in to Democratic pockets.

Anyone who seeks the presidency MUST know what they stand for; must NOT make it a priority to "get along with the other side"; and MUST be willing to fight for it. That's what a campaign IS - a fight of ideologies. Democrats fight down and dirty for what they want. What did McCain want and what did he fight for? It certainly wasn't the presidency and conservative principles.

Now, in just two days, Senator McCain's campaign staff is relentlessly going after and impugning Governor Palin, blaming her for the failed campaign, far worse than they EVER went after B. Hussein Obama during the MONTHS of campaigning.

Where are Senator McCain's calls to stop this nonsense? Where are the statements from Senator McCain distancing himself from this rhetoric?

War hero or not. Senator McCain has shown no loyalty to the Republican party, conservatives, and now even his own chosen running mate.

I'm just hoping Obama's ego will finally assert itself over his self-control and he'll have the nerve to declare himself a god, a la Caesar. We all know he believes it.

I'm with you Ann..I think if I had to hear McCain say "My friends..." one more time, I'd throw myself off a building.
Lame candidate
Lame campaign
and mad as hell at the RNC.

when will they learn they cannot go along to get along?
this is war.
like Rush says.."reach across the aisle and they break your arm..walk across the aisle they break your leg."

McCain reached across the aisle one too many times including in his campaign. I think all the fight was knocked out of him in Vietnam. I hope Republicans learned these lessons:

1. Don't reach across the aisle! The only "unity" the DemocRats believe in is when you agree with their side. Other than that, there is no unity. Despite all the brown nosing with Feingold & Kennedy, the liberal media turned on McCain as if he were a real Republican.

2. Run on conservative principles and common sense. Our Republican County Executive, Scott Walker, told a socialist Milwaukee, if I raise your taxes, fire me. He won in a DemocRat dominant city. It doesn't take a lot of fancy words to convince people that your party is the best party for all Americans.

3. Bring out the big guns. DemocRats fight dirty and dishonestly to discredit their opponent. We just have to get out the truth to shoot them down since they all have scary skeletons in their closets.

4. When will a Republican denounce such nonsense as we are racists? Good God people, the Republican party was created to defeat slavery! How anti-racist can one get? I guess providing equal opportunity for everyone instead of a hand out, regardless of race, is a bad thing.

5. Why doesn't anyone admit that rich people should keep their money so they can spend it? Apparently rich DemocRats like Ted Kennedy, John Edwards, Al Gore and John Kerry won't share with the rest of us how many jobs their money creates from their housekeepers to auto makers to people working at fancy resorts. Give rich people enough money and even starving artists can live well. Tax them and everyone pays. Rich people won't give up their money so the people who work for them or cater to them get wage cuts instead.

We definitely need to clean the GOP house and start getting people who will stick with their conservative principles and know how to talk to voters a la Sarah Palin.

Thanks, Ann! I have more I want to add to what you've written in the not-too-distant future.

Was I the only one American citizen, I wonder, who noticed our Evangelical Christian President received zero credit during the entire two-year presidential campaign from those claiming they supposedly were "Republicans", who didn't thank him for creating the Office of Homeland Security that has protected our Nation from any future attacks on our homeland these past 7 yrs.?

The truth is, our Socialist Democratic President, Bill Clinton, made no attempt to create an Office of Homeland Security to protect our Nation or our citizens during the 8 yrs. he was holding office, despite the fact Bill received intelligence that Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda Islamic terrorists were planning an airborne attack against America!

Oprah confronted Bill Clinton about this fact on her own TV show (the same day his multimillion dollar "tell-all" book was finally released to the public). The famous adulterer actually had the audacity to cowardly blame the fact he did absolutely nothing to order the capture or the murder of this Terrorist Dictator and blamed the fact he did nothing to notify Americans about this impending attack, on what Bill and Hillary called "the vast right wing conspiracy"! I wish you all would order a copy of the video of Bill's appearance on The Oprah Show. Unless the video has since then been deliberately "doctored" to change or delete his original remarks, you need to watch and listen to this pathological liar as he again looks into the TV cameras and lies to us with a straight face! Bill didn't want to admit the truth to us that the real reason why he did nothing during that time of crisis (when Osama bin Laden was repeatedly testing Bill's resolve as Commander-in-Chief of our US Military), was because Bill knew he wasn't qualified to be the Commander-In-Chief of our US Military because he never served one day in our Military. Instead, during the Viet Nam War, he chose to run away from his own Country to Europe to escape being drafted, so he would not have to fight for his own Nation. Amazingly, this coward wasn't only elected once but twice by our own citizens, despite the fact Bill deserved impeachment for doing absolutely nothing to warn us about the impending terrorist attacks he knew were coming against our Nation, and for doing nothing to create an Office of Homeland Security to help protect our Nation and our citizens! He and his Wife only sought revenge: to get even with the Republican Party, even though it was God Himself who revealed his lack of moral character to the entire World. So Billary decided to do nothing, so later they could blame Bill's Republican Presidential successor for the attack!

Just as we saw an "instant replay" of Carter the Coward and also witnessed an "instant replay" of Clinton the Coward, we are about to also witness an "instant replay" of Obama the Coward, all of whom had no qualifications whatsoever to be the Commander-In-Chief of our US Military! Thanks to another Socialist Pacifist American President in our history (Franklin Delano Roosevelt), allowing several other Terrorist Dictators to gain control over Europe and over Japan, it became necessary for millions of our courageous US Military to loose their lives on several continents simultaneously! While every drop of American blood shed is truly sacred, only a few thousand of our most courageous have died during this war to protect us from the Islamic terrorists: only a bit over the amount of the innocents who lost their lives on 9/11/01, compared to those who die on our own American highways every year, or those who die from cancer, heart disease, or from drug-related street killings, or a multitude of other causes. Our Socialist-run media and press ensures our citizens never hear the frightening total of statistics concerning these deaths so our own citizens and the World's citizens can finally put a this loss of life during the war into proper perspective.

I seriously doubt our Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren were ever told the truth about World War II and FDR, whom Socialist and/or Communist high school teachers and college professors revere so highly as a hero, the same way they revere JFK and LBJ as heroes, despite the fact JFK was the first US President to send our US Military to Viet Nam to fight and die in that war, and LBJ was responsible for increasing our troop strength in Viet Nam. Just as they did during the Viet Nam War, they have lied to the American people and instead placed blame on our Republican President, even though Nixon brought our troops back home, albeit in defeat instead of in victory, thanks to two traitors: "Hanoi John" Kerry and "Hanoi Jane" Fonda.

The_Kat:

"I think all the fight was knocked out of him in Vietnam."

I agree. I'm not minimizing his 5 years as a tortured POW but an experience like that either makes a person tougher and more determined, or it breaks their spirit.

John McCain only knows how to fight his fellow party members and fight for what makes him acceptable to liberal Democrats and the mainstream media. He does not fight for what is right, descent and good for the country and he certainly does not fight for Republican principles.

It seems to me that he expects respect and loyalty from those around him but he does not give it in return - only to liberal Democrats and the mainstream media.

Senator McCain only cares that liberal Democrats and the mainstream media love him. They "tarred and feathered" him during the campaign and now they love him again, so now Senator McCain is happy again.

I'm just glad he won't be seeking the presidency again. I held my nose and voted for him, but he wasn't my choice in the first place.

True conservatism never loses ... and this election was one that should have never been lost. Starting at the top ... the Republican Party has been abandoning the very principles and people that made it victorious.

I view the Bush Administration as having been the captain of the U.S. Naval Submarine “The Conservative” (SSN Class 2004). The captain, in essence, kept The Conservative submerged far too long. At nearly every moment when the Captain should have surfaced the sub, he instead chose to dive a little deeper into the abyss.

For a good part of the past eight years, The Conservative drifted in waters at a depth of 30 meters down. It is at this depth that red light is quickly absorbed, and since there is no red light to reflect anything that is red, it thus absorbs all light that hits it and red will appear a blueish black.

For the past year, The Conservative continued to teeter between a depth of 29 and 30 meters. It is precisely this analogy, when applied to Tuesday night’s Electoral Map, that should help explain why most of the red states simply disappeared.

Love it! What would really be fun is Palin wins in 2012, and taps Ann to be her Whitehouse spokes person... First lib asks a question and Ann says "Shut up you moron."

ANN!!!!!:

ARGH!!!!!

B. Hussein Obama is NOT President elect, YET!

On Black Tuesday as voted for the ELECTORS for the President, so technically right now it is a 538-way tie.

Until the electors meet in their state capitals to cast their vote and then the votes are verified, complied, folded, sorted and stacked into nice little piles, we do not have a President elect. (Nor the need for a stupid, insipid, childish sign on and number of podia announcing the "Office of the President Elect." And, just thumbing through the pages of my pocket Constitution there is no "Office of the President Elect."

And while we are on the subject, ought B. Hussein get in, I hope he is not going to change the Seal of the President of the United States as it is today to that screwed up Pepsi logo that looks more fitting for the president of Club Med then the most powerful job in the world.

Until the Electors meet, he is NOT the President Elect. One can only hope and pray that something comes out of the various court cases that are now going on to prevent it, though the alternative is not that much better.

And to the person who wrote about Putin putting missiles on the Polish frontier, NObama has said that he would reverse the presidential directive keeping out missiles in that neck of the woods. He can't even wait to be IGNORE-gurated before turning tail. And he would lift the bans on embryonic stem cell research as well as any federal bans or limitations on abortion.

It just gets better every day, doesn't it?

God Bless, God Speed and God Help us all!
John

Will someone explain the electoral college, what ever that is went with Obama hands down how do all the people with a brain explain that. If Obama starts his secret cop shops and wants to change redneck America we in the oil/Alchol rich Midwest can take Sarah P and Alaska and leave the DC bunch with all there debt and form a new AMERICA.
