To comment on it I'd just be repeating everything you said. However:

How can you ridicule the democratic mind set

Perhaps follow it with:

"Moreover, what was going on five years ago? Why didn't anyone propose drilling back then?"

And the suggestion that we hire people to think of these problems in advance. We can call them
Representatives! BRAVO!!!!

According to the OPEC website, 26 percent of all fuel oil, gas, jet fuel and diesel revenue is taxes in the US. That's nothing. In the UK it's 55 percent.

That's a fantastic amount of money: roughly one dollar for every gallon of diesel, gas, jet fuel and fuel oil consumed by the US.

According to Newt Gingrich, the fed could dump a third of our national oil reserves into the market now and cause oil prices to drop by about $50 a barrel almost immediately.

Crude oil brokers and speculators whimsically drive the price up at every opportunity. The current price of crude oil is largely artificially inflated (and grossly enriching some people who are powerful to enough to thusly enrich themselves without interference even from the media).

Would the United Auto Workers still heartily endorse Obama if they knew he plans to shut down the auto industry?

And Ann, you make a very good point: if we'd started drilling in the Gulf and in Alaska five years ago, right now we'd be supplying at least half of our oil from our own sources.

The high gas, diesel, jet fuel and fuel oil prices are nothing more than the failure of the democratically controlled congress to act on the behalf of its employers: US citizens.

I think it should be obvious to even the slowest of us that the Democrats don't care about the environment beyond it's value to them as a weapon against American Capitalism. After all, whatever happened to the "hole in the ozone layer"? you don't hear anything about that any more because they're getting more traction with the global warming hoax.

Why drill for oil when there are perfectly good buses running within a mile or two of our houses? I, too, wondered about skep41's views, trying to determine if he is being sarcastic or not. I noticed the underlined blue font and decided that it was a web log. So I went to his site, scanned it a bit, and believe that he is being sarcastic. He has an excellent analogy between the Civil War and our current dilemma that is worth reading.

There's a reason Obama has been endorsed by Hamas, Hezbollah, Moammar Gadhafi, Fidel Castro, the Black Panthers and George Soros -- and it has nothing to do with what's good for America.

In the UK petrol (gas) is £1.20/litre, that is equivalent to US$8.87/USgallon. Of this circa 45% is excise duty and 17.5% value added tax, that is a total of tax per gallon of US$5.55. Of course despite certain Americans loving Blair and Gay Gordon we have had to put up with these left-wing power hungry chumps ruining our country since 1997. They have been peddling lies and spin for years so be warned, never let left wing politicians get anywhere near power. They are disastrous and have NO moral compass.
