Let Them Eat Tofu!

By: Ann Coulter

Even right-wingers who know that "global warming" is a crock do not seem to grasp what the tree-huggers are demanding. Liberals want mass starvation and human devastation.

Forget the lunacy of people claiming to tell us the precise temperature of planet Earth in 1918 based on tree rings. Or the fact that in the '70s liberals were issuing similarly dire warnings about "global cooling."

Simply consider what noted climatologists Al Gore and Melissa Etheridge are demanding that we do to combat their nutty conjectures about "global warming." They want us to starve the productive sector of fossil fuel and allow the world's factories to grind to a halt. This means an end to material growth and a cataclysmic reduction in wealth.

There are more reputable scientists defending astrology than defending "global warming," but liberals simply announce that the debate has been resolved in their favor and demand that we shut down all production.

They think they can live in a world of only Malibu and East Hampton — with no Trentons or Detroits. It does not occur to them that someone has to manufacture the tiles and steel and glass and solar panels that go into those "eco-friendly" mansions, and someone has to truck it all to their beachfront properties, and someone else has to transport all the workers there to build it. (And then someone has to drive the fleets of trucks delivering the pachysandra and bottled water every day.)

Liberals are already comfortably ensconced in their beachfront estates, which they expect to be unaffected by their negative growth prescriptions for the rest of us.

There was more energy consumed in the manufacture, construction and maintenance of Leonardo DiCaprio's Malibu home than is needed to light the entire city of Albuquerque, where there are surely several men who can actually act. But he has solar panels to warm his house six degrees on chilly Malibu nights.

Liberals haven't the foggiest idea how the industrial world works. They act as if America could reduce its vast energy consumption by using fluorescent bulbs and driving hybrid cars rather than SUVs. They have no idea how light miraculously appears when they flick a switch or what allows them to go to the bathroom indoors in winter — luxuries Americans are not likely to abandon because Leo DiCaprio had solar panels trucked into his Malibu estate.

Our lives depend on fossil fuel. Steel plants, chemical plants, rubber plants, pharmaceutical plants, glass plants, paper plants –- those run on energy. There are no Mother Earth nursery designs in stylish organic cotton without gas-belching factories, ships and trucks, and temperature-controlled, well-lighted stores. Windmills can't even produce enough energy to manufacture a windmill.

Because of the industrialization of agriculture –- using massive amounts of fossil fuel — only 2 percent of Americans work in farming. And yet they produce enough food to feed all 300 million Americans, with plenty left over for export. When are liberals going to break the news to their friends in Darfur that they all have to starve to death to save the planet?

"Global warming" is the left's pagan rage against mankind. If we can't produce industrial waste, then we can't produce. Some of us — not the ones with mansions in Malibu and Nashville is my guess — are going to have to die. To say we need to reduce our energy consumption is like saying we need to reduce our oxygen consumption.

Liberals have always had a thing about eliminating humans. Stalin wanted to eliminate the kulaks and Ukranians, vegetarian atheist Adolf Hitler wanted to eliminate the Jews, Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger wanted to eliminate poor blacks, DDT opponent Rachel Carson wanted to eliminate Africans (introduction to her book "Silent Spring" written by ... Al Gore!), and population-control guru Paul Ehrlich wants to eliminate all humans.

But global warming is the most insane, psychotic idea liberals have ever concocted to kill off "useless eaters." If we have to live in a pure "natural" environment like the Indians, then our entire transcontinental nation can only support about 1 million human beings. Sorry, fellas — 299 million of you are going to have to go.

Proving that the "global warming" campaign is nothing but hatred of humanity, these are the exact same people who destroyed the nuclear power industry in this country 30 years ago.

If we accept for purposes of argument their claim that the only way the human race can survive is with clean energy that doesn't emit carbon dioxide, environmentalists waited until they had safely destroyed the nuclear power industry to tell us that. This proves they never intended for us to survive.

"Global warming" is the liberal's stalking horse for their ultimate fantasy: The whole U.S. will look like Amagansett, with no one living in it except their even-tempered maids (for "diversity"), themselves and their coterie (all, presumably, living in solar-heated mansions, except the maids who will do without electricity altogether). The entire fuel-guzzling, tacky, beer-drinking, NASCAR-watching middle class with their over-large families will simply have to die.

It seems not to have occurred to the jet set that when California is as poor as Mexico, they might have trouble finding a maid. Without trucking, packaging, manufacturing, shipping and refrigeration in their Bel-Air fantasy world, they'll be chasing the rear-end of an animal every time their stomachs growl and killing small animals for pelts to keep their genitals warm.

Ann, the only thing missing from your oh, so accurate diatribe against the Birkenstockistas design to rid the planet of those who are not their version of “PLU” is Jimmah Cahta’s take on this insanity.

The most poignant point you make is “there are more scientists defending astrology than defending ‘global warming’ but the liberals announce that the debate has been resolved in their favor…”

The Liberal theocratic model demands that they find only one voice in the wilderness that agrees with their inane contentions and that settles it, facts be damned. For example, all it took was for Paul Erlich to be proved wrong, again, with respect to the coming Ice Age to then use the exact same data to “prove” the coming “global warming.”

(I find it equally amusing and further proves the existence of God that when the Libs go crying to the Proles that the sky is falling, “global warming-wise” it is either on the coldest day in a century [Algore, in NY] or in the midst of one of the worst winters on record [this year]. It is really hard to take the left seriously when one is faced with shoveling three feet of “‘global warming” from their driveway.)

Despite the fact that Algore has a $30,000 per year utility bill, drives in limos, flies private jets and his carbon footprint is as large as the Amazon Basin, he is still “green” because of his carbon-credit-card or some such nonsense.

Yet, you can not tell a lib that. They have a rebuttal. However wrong and asinine, you can count on a liberal to justify even the most heinous or ridiculous acts or contentions. Look at the brouhaha in the Dem Prez camp. Geffin is supporting Baramadamadingdong because BJ Clinton did not parole a convicted cop killer. For some reason, the libs think that is a valid argument.

Argh! Please do not get me started! One liberal point begets yet another and so on and so forth. Liberalism, were it to be a comestible, might be the perfect food as it seems to spontaneously spawn yet another morsel of lie and deception at the exposure of another.

With the attacks of the Islamists and the idiocy of algore and his ilk, it is very possible that we are headed for a new Dark Age. It's time for the more thoughtful and reasonable citizens to stand up and be counted. The real danger here is that these nimcompoops are actually going to stifle the economy of this most powerful and productive economy all in the name of global warming. Is it possible that algore is really a chinese mole?

Don't forget the acid rain hysteria.

A few years ago Cornell University produced data showing that the production of ethanol actually used more fuel than was produced. In other words, you're using fuel to produce LESS fuel. We're actually wasting food to creat fuel. That sounds primitive to me. You can't eat petroleum--why not make it into gasoline, heating oil, etc. Big Corn is behind this.

Great column, Ann! And dead–on accurate as usual!

But look on the bright side. If California were to become as poor as Mexico, that would definitely stop illegal Mexican immigration! We won’t even have to put water stations in the desert for them anymore or build the border fence (except to keep people in)! By-by California wine country!

Global warming is another typical liberal scare tactic. And, when ever you confront them with logic and facts, the inevitable argument is, “But, what if it’s true?” No science; no logic; just “what if”. Yet, they never consider “And, what if it’s false?”

True. Liberal environmentalist wacko’s have absolutely NO concept of industrialization or what the effect would be on their lives – not just everyone else – THEIR lives.

If we don’t use fossil fuels, who or what will design, test, manufacture, deliver and install their precious solar panels, manufacture and deliver their environmentally friendly fuel cells, and how will any of their recycling ever be picked up let alone their garbage?

If we don’t use fossil fuels, which by the way are created by nature – we just refine them, how are we even going to be able to run those recycling plants?

Who will manufacture their movies, CD’s, DVD’s, books and special effects lighting for their concerts?

Exactly how are these rich liberal environmental wacko head-cases going to fly, rail or cruise to their summer or winter vacation homes; or to their movie set locations; or to their concert locations, hmm?

And, even if the “star” gets there, just how is every one else going to get to the concert or movie theater? And, how is the show going to go on with fossil fuels having been eliminated?

And, why pay for the event? With limited or no manufacturing, who is going to produce the money; who is going to have any to spend; where are the “stars” going to deposit it with banks out of business; and what would it be used for anyway? Trips to Europe? And how are they going to get there? Row boat? Who is going to manufacture the boat and oars?

But again, looking on the bright side, these elitist morons won’t have any microphones, TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, internet or any other medium to spread their liberal environmental vomitous message! Who or what is going to provide the necessary power to run or manufacture these things? Running squirrels in exercise wheels? And, who just is going to manufacture the exercise wheels? And, PETA would have a conniption!

What I’m interested in knowing is just how environmentalists are going to regulate natural volcanic eruptions? Natural volcanic eruptions happen from time to time and it takes only one eruption to adversely affect the atmosphere and weather immediately, depending upon your proximity to the eruption, much more than our 20 or more years of forced pollution control crap, recycling programs, fuel efficiency standards and smaller cars is positively affecting the atmosphere.

But, on the brighter side, we won’t need nationalized health care because we won’t have hospitals or doctors offices because they won’t have the ability to run the equipment let alone the lights, phones and computers to keep records; we won’t even have doctors since we won’t have the universities to educate them (with the exception of “Candlelight U”); we will no longer need the senior citizen prescription drug entitlement program since the companies that produce these drugs won’t be able to manufacture them any longer; we will no longer need to fight the war on poverty since everyone will be poor; we will no longer need welfare since everyone will be fending for themselves.

And, forget the American Cancer Society; The Red Cross; The Salvation Army; Aids Research; The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation; Stem Cell Research – you name it.

On the bright side again, we will no longer have funded Global Warming studies because who or what is going to power the building and equipment they themselves need to generate and keep track of their bogus computer models and supposed “research”?

And, since the population would definitely decrease if we ever implemented the environmentalist Global Warming crowds’ prescription for saving the planet, exactly who are we saving the planet for? It’s certainly not for “the children”. Maybe we’re saving the planet for the nuclear resistant cockroaches!

Global warming is the biggest rip off to Americans in history. Virtually everyone stands to make huge amounts of money from this issue. Environmentalist, or the new Mafia, has been conducting Jessie Jackson type strong-arm activities for years. This gives them a new tool. Lawyers (Environmental defense and Western Resource Advocates) are lined up for their "tobacco settlement". Utilities love it because they get to buy new much more expensive equipment that produces less power and they get a guaranteed return on that investment (It's called rate basing). Utilities have a defined service territory. If the PUC approves of $1 billion investment, the utility gets to make a guaranteed return of say 15% on that investment. If they are forced to pay $3 billion for the same renewable asset they get to make 3 times the guaranteed return. The major equipment suppliers stand to make a fortune, selling this new and vastly more expensive equipment. Forget about the politicians. I don't believe this is an organized conspiracy. It is just that everyone looks around and sees the huge amounts of money that can be made and goes along. Like people seeing an armored car with it doors left open. This should be an issue for the Republicans; after all triple energy costs will hurt the poor, middle income and elderly the hardest. This could pull a vast group of traditional dems to our side, but no one wants to step up. An example of the complicity. Western Resource Advocates, WRA is a newly formed, well-financed and highly visible environmental law group out of the Peoples Republic of Boulder, CO. They have taken a stand that IGCC is the only suitable technology that can be used to burn coal. GE, Conoco Phillips and KBR/Halliburton are the leading provider of this technology. I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

Great comments all! It is surprising, to illuminate on savr12’s comment, that the liberazi are not screaming that a dragon is eating the Sun as the ancient Chinese believed! But the point that the nincompoops are trying to stifle the economy is simply another example of liberal self-hate. Algore a mole? Nah, his eyes are too close together.

lexi’s comment that Big Corn is behind the ethanol is great. Oddly enough I am not surprised that the Birkenstockistas are not blaming Big Beef for all the methane created by cows!

Lynn’s plentitudinous comments are accurate and pithy. But if you take the sum of her comments, and ought they come to fruition, then and only then would the last remaining liberal on Earth be able to say, “see, I told you so!” The libs would destroy our way of life, our country, yes, even the world to prove one of their “points.” For further proof, look at the Dem “leadership”, look at whom they would have ascend to the Big Chair. Then tell me that they have the first clue about anything!

Another Great column Ann!
If I had not read GODLESS in 2006, I would have sworn that the 2007 Oscars Show was your inspiration.
The accuracy of your descriptions of the liberal mindset is what drives them bonkers and makes you SO despised! Please keep up the great work!

France gets 75% of their electricity from nuclear power. I wonder why they are pushing the CO2 issue? It will have virtually no impact on them and devastate the US economy. Here is the math. 1 MWhr of coal-fired power makes 1 ton of CO2. In 2005 the US got 2,013,179,000 MWhrs of electricity from coal power.(http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epa/epat1p1.html)

CO2 tax of $10/ton will cost the economy $20 billion per year. At $75/ton it’s $150 billion per year. But this isn't a tax; it's an investment, right?

Posted by: DennyP [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 1, 2007 11:18 AM

Don't forget all the energy a movie takes. Those lights, cameras, special effects, sets, wardrobes...all are hardly eco friendly.

Posted by: Karl [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 1, 2007 11:41 AM

Two thoughts. One, we all seem to be fixated on the "figure heads", Algore, Ed Begley, etc. Are we not forgetting the rank & file granola eaters who are driving this? It's a lot more than just a handful of nimrod socialites who are wanting to destroy our way of life. Everyone's points are spot on. But none of these knotheads would have a leg to stand on if they didn't have a support base of good ol' socialist utopians. They're the ones writing letters to congress, calling the local news, and paying for the seminars and scientific "research" that's helping fuel this crap. And that's not even considering all the soccer mom's out there!

Two, what about China? Anyone been there lately? Los Angeles' smog on it's worst day looks 10 times better than any of China's industrial cities on their best day. But I dare say that the peoples govt would laugh themselves to death if the UN approached them about their "greenhouse gas" production!

The "global warming" on Mars proves how wrong the Liberals are. But they have always lived in a fantasy world. One name I would add to Ann's list is sci-fi writer Arthur C. Clarke (2001: A Space Odyssey) who once said that there should never be more than 10,000 humans and any one time because you could never know more people than that in a lifetime!

Posted by: snowmane [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 1, 2007 01:05 PM

For those of you that have a Wall Street Journal online subscription, here's a perfect example of the type of world and economic leadership all those socialist granola types you criticize so blithely are providing:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB117271946045522982.html?mod=hps_us_at_glance_pj

These folks, along with some big name help from companies like AT&T, DELL, Citigroup are actually providing some political leadership on climate change. As opposed to you folks, who apparently just sit around and complain about others who try to live by their ideals.

Posted by: rferrisx [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 1, 2007 03:50 PM

Sorry to burst your bubble rferrisx, but I am doing something about it. 1) I own and operate a small hydro power plant; you know the original renewable energy source. Hydropower is now not considered renewable because it is not PC. I personally produce 100 times more green power than my family uses every year. 2) We are working on a clean coal plant as we speak that will capture and sequester CO2. I just happen to think that it a huge farce that is being perpetrated on the American public. As I explained in an earlier post, everyone, including me, will make a fortune off of trying to prevent a 1 deg C rise in temperature over the next century. The companies that you listed are the same corporations that would send jobs to India to save a couple of pennies and they are to be our moral compass on this issue? Guess who was the biggest wind turbine manufacture in the US in 2001. Wrong Enron. GE now owns that business. But I’m sure Ken Lay was not in business to make money. He wanted to prevent Global Warming.

Posted by: DennyP [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 1, 2007 04:07 PM

DennyP's point re France and nuke power illuminates a delicious irony: It's a fact that the U.S. has fallen behind in design and production of safe, clean and efficient nuclear power, thanks to The Three Mile Panic. And who are the world leaders? The FRENCH! If Uncle Sam wanted to get back into the game in less than decades, we would have to import the smarts and maybe even the plant & equipment for nuclear power production from the d--- Frogs.

Not to mention, it's one of the few places left in the world where you can still puff a stogie in a saloon. Vive!

All good comments. In regards to nuclear power, if the eco-freaks had not destroyed the nuclear industry and it's associated research, there is a good chance we would all now be enjoying the benefits of hydrogen fusion -- unlimited energy from water -- no CO2 -- nothing for them to complain about.

It would have been nice ...

Mexico is responsible, in large part, for our high CO-2 emission rate. They send illegals here resulting in a double whammy for us; first, their presence requires a tremendous amount of energy for maintenance and second, we have to cut down a treasure trove of trees, that normally would be soaking up that cursed CO-2 and spewing out that life-saving O-2, in order to erect housing for them. I say, "send the illegals packing"!

I believe that Al Gore and friends need the problem and have very little interest in solutions. One of my favorite lines from Atlas Shrugged is "We didn't have enough law breakers, so we changed the law." There is an industry that was built up to fight legitimate pollution 30 years ago. We eliminated acid rain, by scrubbing sulfur out of the flue gas and we eliminated smog-causing NOx. Cars are cleaner and more efficient than ever. The air is now cleaner than any time in the last 50 years. We don't have enough polluters, so they need to change the laws. How do you do that? Name a naturally occuring gas, CO2, a pollutant. Forget the fact that CO2 is emitted by every living thing that is not a plant and that is absolutely essential to life. This is a dream for the Dems. They have people asking for higher taxes at the same time they can put US business at a disadvantage compared to China and India.

Denny P:

It is unfair citing facts to rebut a liberal. They can not cite facts to support their contentions. Using facts to debate a liberal is like bringing a gun to a knife fight. But, is also like trying to teach a pig to whistle. A waste of time and annoying to the pig. They will not be moved by the truth.

Such a good point but one that will be lost on most every liberal. Especially the "experts."

"Using facts to debate a liberal is like bringing a gun to a knife fight."

Debating liberal Democratic environmentalist barren brains armed with facts is the equivalent of an armed person fighting a person who actually believes they are armed because they’ve made a "gun" using their thumb and index finger.

Even a person armed with only a thimble of knowledge has it over what these nut jobs have in their arsenal.

Liberal Democratic environmentalists' brains are factually barren, scientifically barren and logically barren. All they are armed with is emotion.

Posted by: LynnJG [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 2, 2007 08:21 PM

LynnJG amplifies my point and makes an even better one!

Using the “made a ‘gun’ using their thumb and index finger” analogy, Lynn has synthesized the liberal mindset.

For liberals, “trying to” is the same or better than actually doing.

For liberals, the fact that they are doing something bad is offset if they can prove someone did something worse.

For liberals, the vast amount of skewed information that they have is more valid in their eyes than one iota of truth.

For liberals, you do not have to adhere to your beliefs if you are “at least talking about them.” (I actually heard someone on the radio this morning defending Algore on the basis that even if he is a polluter, “at least he is talking about it.”)

For liberals, if you can justify/lie about your bad acts, well, then, they are not bad acts.

Think of BJ Clinton wagging his finger stating that he “did not have sex with that woman…" Or, more topical, Algore can claim that he is not a polluter because he has purchased “carbon credits.” Excuse me for thinking clearly but I was not aware the greens were selling indulgences as the Church did in the middle ages. Oddly enough, Algore bought the credits from a company that he has some degree of control over. Or, perhaps, Algore was reading up on his Civil War history when rich people could buy their way out of the war by paying someone to take their place. Or, maybe, like in feudal times one would be able to kill someone else by paying another not to kill someone. The bottom line in every situation, including Algore’s carbon credit card has to do with whatever is proscribed has not been circumvented but has in fact occurred by proxy. No matter how many credits Algore buys, HE is still polluting. No matter how many indulgences you buy, if you are bad, you are most likely damned. No matter how many people you pay not to kill someone, someone is still dying. But, try to explain that to a liberal. You would have more success having my beloved Rocket the Wonderdog grasp the concept of a 47th dimensional hypercube than for a liberal to even understand a scintilla of the above!

Argh!

Enough for now, I am so steamed over Algore and his lying minions I have raised the ambient temperature in my office by 3 degrees!

God Bless and God Speed
John

Posted by: Jaksavin [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 3, 2007 07:50 AM

Apropos the buying of indulgences and other medieval behavior, including the brushing-off of inconvenient facts, it's helpful to remember that for these believers it's a religion: nothing to do with science or reason. It can't be argued or refuted. Either you buy the whole caboodle, or you're evil.

And Algore, Master of the Universe, having invented the Internet, for his next improbable miracle, resolves to stop Time itself. More powerful than a volcano, monsoon, or tsunami, he will personally Save the Planet by conquering climate and ending change. Wow.
