Read My Lips: No New Amnesty
Printer FriendlyBy: Ann Coulter
On the bright side, if President Bush's amnesty proposal for illegal immigrants ends up hurting Republicans and we lose Congress this November, maybe the Democrats will impeach him and we'll get Cheney as president.
At least Bush has dropped his infernal references to slacker Americans when talking about illegal immigrants. In his speech Monday night, instead of 47 mentions of "jobs Americans won't do," Bush referred only once to "jobs Americans are not doing" -- which I take it means other than border enforcement and intelligence-gathering at the CIA. For the record, I'll volunteer right now to clean other people's apartments if I don't have to pay taxes on what I earn.
Also, someone must have finally told Bush that the point about America being a "nation of immigrants" is moronic. All nations are "nations of immigrants" -- as Peter Brimelow pointed out brilliantly in his 1992 article in National Review on immigration, which left nothing for anyone else to say.
Of the "nation of immigrants" locution, Brimelow says:
"No discussion of U.S. immigration policy gets far without someone making this helpful remark. As an immigrant myself, I always pause respectfully. You never know. Maybe this is what they're taught to chant in schools nowadays, a sort of multicultural Pledge of Allegiance. ... Do they really think other nations sprouted up out of the ground?"
Brimelow then ran through the Roman, Saxon, Viking, Norman-French, Welsh and Celtic immigrant influences in Britain alone.
Instead of a moratorium on new immigration, I'd settle for a moratorium on the use of the expression "We're a nation of immigrants." Throw in a ban on "Diversity is our strength" and you've got my vote for life.
Bush has also apparently learned that the word "amnesty" does not poll well. On Monday night, he angrily denounced the idea of amnesty just before proposing his own amnesty program. The difference between Bush's amnesty program and "amnesty" is: He'd give amnesty only to people who have been breaking our laws for many years -- not just a few months. (It's the same program that allows Ted Kennedy to stay in the Senate.)
Bush calls this the "rational middle ground" because it recognizes the difference between "an illegal immigrant who crossed the border recently and someone who has worked here for many years." Yes, the difference is: One of them has been breaking the law longer. If our criminal justice system used that logic, a single murder would get you the death penalty, while serial killers would get probation.
Bush claimed the only other alternative -- I assume this is the "irrational extreme" -- is "a program of mass deportation." Really? Is the only alternative to legalizing tax cheats "a program of mass arrest of tax cheats"?
This is the logic of the pro-abortion zealots (aka "the Democratic Party"): Either lift every single restriction on abortion or ... every woman in America will be impregnated by her father and die in a back-alley abortion!
Those are your only two answers? Do you need another minute?
How about the proposal made on Brimelow's Web site, Vdare.com, that illegal immigrants be told they have two months to leave the country voluntarily and not have their breaking of our immigration laws held against them when they apply for citizenship from their home countries -- or not leave and be banned from U.S. citizenship forever?
Or how about just not giving illegal aliens green cards -- as Bush is proposing -- and deport them when we catch them?
Instead of choosing immigrants based on the longevity of their lawbreaking, another idea is to choose the immigrants we want, for example, those who speak English or have special skills. (And by "special skills" I don't mean giving birth to an anchor baby in a border-town emergency room.)
Why not use immigration the way sports teams use the draft -- to upgrade our roster? We could take our pick of the world's engineers, doctors, scientists, uh ... smoking-hot Latin guys who stand around not wearing shirts between workouts. Or, you know, whatever ...
As Peter Brimelow says in his book "Alien Nation: Common Sense About America's Immigration Disaster," why not choose immigrants who are better than us?
Bush thinks it's not fair to favor people with special skills -- a policy evidenced by his Harriet Miers pick.
How about this: It's not fair to want to go out with someone just because that person is attractive and has a good personality because it discriminates against people who are ugly with bad social skills! That's our immigration policy.
Press "1" for English; press "2" for a new president ...

Ann,
Excellent column, as usual. Thanks for the reality check on Senator DUI and for the link to the Vdare article.

Ann - you are forgetting why we NEED illegal immigrants to do the jobs that "americans wont do" because we have this thing called WELFARE. So that the people who should really be scrubbing toilets are living in my tax abatement apartment in NYC for $600 a month while they carry around real Louis Vuitton bags and dress their kids in $200 sneakers. No one ever mentions the reason why we are supporting illegal immigration in this country. Ban WELFARE and we will not need anyone to come across our border.

Ann---With your ability for logic and comparison you should consider writing an occasional sermon for some preachers. America could use a good revival. Please.

Brilliant, sorta...
First: I need to take exception to a comment made. To compare someone who may abuse alcohol, show a vapid and rampant disregard for laws, may be guilty of murder and more with an illegal alien is just too plain harsh and unfair to the alien.
Second: Why is someone not stepping forward and calling this whole thing for what it is, yet another liberal smokescreen aided and abetted by the pantywaist republicans.
I am sick and tired of having to put up with, molly-coddle and be "sensitive" to every weak-sister, mamby-pamby issue that faces our country. The House and the Senate are breeding grounds for the ruination of our country. This one is no different.
As Ann says, they are illegal immigrants. Illegal, for you dems, means "not legal." Where is the problem? Do we need to deport them all, sure, you bet. Then we can start the process all over again by the book.
There are so many ridiculous things being said, ideas floated and plans made that it is absolutely sickening. I am sure that if I entered most any politicians home illegally, did a Goldilocks and ate his food, slept in one of their beds, went through their change jars then complained that they did not have HBO, I am reasonably sure that the local constabulary would be called to evict me, forcibly is necessary.
We own our country, it is time we took pride in ownership.
I have a fence around my house. Do I have one because I like fences? No, I have it to keep people and animals off of MY property. What is the difference with our collective property called "America?"
We have a giant brain in congress who can not wrap his arms around the concept of the National Guard protecting our border. He claims it is not their job. What special kind of stupid do you have to be not to comprehend the terms "nation" and "guard?" Hello? (This is from the same camp who have no idea how long WWII lasted. Please, do not get me started!)
The Mexican government now is threatening lawsuits if we use our National Guard to detain and repel invaders. I am so confused here. According to this scenario, not only should we welcome criminals with open arms and checkbooks but not do anything to protect ourselves and if we dare to secure our borders we can be sued by some banana republic. WHAT!!!! (Mind you, this is the same paragon of democracy that is doing the exact same thing on their southern frontier that they are excoriating us for suggesting that we do to their northern frontier.)
You know, on second thought perhaps we should let these folks come here and take over. At least we would have some people with balls.
The litany of lunacy goes on and on. From the Iraq War, to abortion, to gay "rights", to illegal immigration and so forth, the left-wing of our country in the express desire not to offend any one has so diluted our ability to stand up and be proud of whom we are and have weakened our self-worth, our security and our great nation. (To be fair, the illegal immigration aspect is not the sole bailiwick of the left. There are sufficient republicans who are severely misguided as well, but the other issues have their fingerprints all over them.)
Quite simply, I would suggest filtering most any idea, suggestion, plan or remedy through the following filter "WWLD".
Look at an issue and ask yourself "What Would a Liberal Do?" When you come to the answer on your own then see the same or similar response be floated by a senator, congressman or anyone in political office, you know for whom not to vote in the next election.
Head....going.....to.....explode.....

Ann, as usual, is once again right on the money! Only I don't think we should wait to lose the house and wait for the democrats to impeach Bush, the conservative Republicans should impeach him for breaching his oath of office by not protecting this nation's borders.

It's sad that President Bush has accomplished so little since his re-election, other than to dissapoint the people who kept him in office. This debacle over immigration is just one example of how out of touch with reality he has become. Is it a question of being overwhelmed, or is it a case of a poor little rich boy who got bored and wants to do something new. And to think that I supported him during both election. Live and learn.

Ann Coulter continues to show why she is the sharpest pencil in the box. She has more brains, sense and spine than the entire Congress and White House combined. Our President was supposed to be a cowboy and he turned in to just another poor excuse for a leader. How sad is it though that as limp-dick as our President is...he still a far cry better than where we'd be right now had John "Three Purple Hearts in Four Months" Kerry. When did our country turn in to a big wussy about our own country? When the stoned hippies from the 60's took power? Hey...grow up!! We spend so much effort, energy, resources...lives...fixing everyone else's country while our own country is going down the toilet and is more at risk now than it has ever been! I was in the Army during the Reagan years...THAT man would not be allowing all the bullsh*t that's going on right now!!
Ann...I know you're smarter than to be a politician...but we need patriots like you and Colonel Ollie North and Sean Hannity and Colonel David Hunt and Michelle Malkin to be in position to CHANGE POLICY. True patriots who will do what's right for the country versus what's right for their agenda. Thank God you point out the stupidity and absolute absurdity of our "leaders"...but our leaders aren't getting any better!! They're getting worse...meaner, more stupid, more devious...more dangerous. History will repeat itself...and we are Rome. Once mighty, then fractured...and then gone. That is our fate unless true patriots do drastic action RIGHT NOW! God Bless America...and God Bless you Ann Coulter for your moxie to be a true patriot.

I thought we were conservative Christians....but apparently not. What I read into in these blogs, especially Ann's, is that we are great at critcizing these leaders and their actions but not supportive of their efforts.
How do we support them? With prayer!!!! President Bush is a BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN who has publically confessed his love for Jesus. He has said this even on television in the middle of a public debate while running for office in 2000. He has said that he tries to listen to what God tells him to do.
Do any of you understand what that means? It means being spirit filled with the Holy Spirit!!! Praying everyday and trying to decipher the leading of God through his Holy Spirit in you! Bush is trying to accomplish this. But the burden of evil in the House is a strong worldly influence. We see it and we blog it...gay rights, abortion, judicial misjudgements etc etc.
We need to support one of the only few true Spirit filled men in the house, Pres. Bush. Along with those other Senators and Congressmen who are also praying daily to find God's leading. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln did it! And this nation, it appears, prayed a lot more then than now.
Yes he can make mistakes but if we give him the moral support he needs and prayer to help his fight against the evils that plague him and the senate then we will come out ahead as a nation. If you don't believe this then you need to start all over and go back to reading your Bible. Especially the red letter section with Jesus' quotations.
How about this for a solution. A nation on it's knees praying for God to lead the House to victory over the evil one. It's scriptural to do so and it is what Jesus has told us we should do!
Do I hear any takers?

Looks like Deep Throat is so choked up with The Testifying that he has lost all good old fashioned American common sense:
"We need to support one of the only few true Spirit filled men in the house, Pres. Bush. Along with those other Senators and Congressmen who are also praying daily to find God's leading."
Color me a the dog in the manger on this issue, but I think Bush and the Bush Bots at Free Republic are spending way too much time on their knees and not enough defending America and its founding principles.
God helps those who help themselves and the only people Helping out America now are the concservatives in The House who are standing up to Bush and the senate evil-doers who seem to be preaching that America is for sale on the cheap.
Hmmm, maybe I should have written this in spanish. Given Bush's current divine leadership, it will likely be the national tongue we will be speaking in should he get his way.
Illegal immigration is just that

Ann,
Would you consider doing an article in Tennessee Fourth Grade English on what Article 1, Section 8 says in the Constitution of the United States?
Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States, gives Congress and Congress alone, the power to establish the rules, laws, and procedures to straighten out immigration and naturalization issues.
Very Respectfully, Tom Kubiak, Colonel, UsAF (Retired)

I voted for W. because he was the better of the two choices (if you can call Kerry a choice) and crossed my fingers that he would do a better job than his father. After eight years of Slick Willie and his criminal gang, W. looks very good indeed.
However, I have been disappointed in W's lack of leadership in the area of border security. Yet he shows some willingness to be molded in this area. He should not have to be molded to our common sense way of thinking, it should have come naturally.
Ann, I have an ad for your poster saved for use as my desktop. I cannot bring myself to use it because I find myself looking at it too much. My wife might get jealous. I watched a construction team across the street this morning. It took 30 minutes before I actually heard someone who was not speaking Spanish.
I guess these are the jobs Americans won't do.
Being a Marine, I lived in the LA area for quite a few years. My ear is tuned to Home Boys. The guys working this job are are not Home Boys.
The 'illegals' decided to eat lunch on my lawn because I have shade trees, and they threw their trash around. I put them off my property. And I got threatened.
I called the cops. The cops now have their IDs. I also informed the cop that I 'AM' going to kill them if they so much as blinks in my direction again. This is a gun state, and this is a state that has strict property laws ... unlike our national borders.
So ... they have no respect for our borders or my yard. No problem. La Migra won't do its job, I'll do mine ... this is a gun state, and I am going to kill anyone who threatens me and mine. But first I like to get it all documented on record with the cops. It simplifies the process.
President Bush is no longer a Republican. I have a problem wondering if he is even an American. I do know that he is responsible for what happened this morning.
This is not a disaster for real Republicans. If we evict Bush from the White House, it not only clarifies what a Republican is, it sets a standard our senators had better heed.

Something else that is commonly used to describe immigrants is that they are "just trying to make a better life for themselves!". This could be said about anyone. Do you know anyone who is not trying to create a better life? Someone who is seeking a LOWER standard of living? I think the Liberals are trying to make America into a third world socialist country! Ann really nailed this one!

I wouldn't go as far as wanting a new president or regretting your votes for Bush. The options simply aren't there. Who would you have in office? Cheney, sure he's great, if he can live through another term. How long would he stand up to this type of scrutiny? Does anybody know what his views are on immigration? None of you like McCain, yet he was the only reasonable choice besides Bush. Does everybody want to hide in their homes through 8 years of Al Gore's gun control, legal euthanasia and rehabilitated mass murderers (no longer on Death row)? Do you prefer Ichabod Kerry, to turn the oval office back into a den of iniquity and our country into a great big target? How about ANY of the left's rejects? Do I hear a shout for Kukinich? OKAY! Point proven?
Wake up and smell the REALITY! What about the 11th Commandment, as per Reagan? He didn't say that to be like God. He didn't say that to tell us we can't speak up about issues we don't approve of! He said it because of the fact that talk like this, the constant bombardment of self-sabotaging views from the right, about CHILDISH issues turn us into a bunch of back-biting liberals. Issues like people making fun of McCain, because he has a purple heart and speaks on liberal television shows. Have you heard him sell our party out? Does he just have a charismatic demeanor that bugs you or is it that you heard something bad about him from others? Is your problem that he has spoken against Bush? If so: HYPOCRITE! If you want to speak about a Republican's bad record, I suggest you look up their voting records, instead of turning yourselves into a bunch of liberals by slandering people.
Bush has an exquisite (not flawless) record, UNTIL THIS ISSUE! Why does that mean impeachment??? I am talking to you as a Christian HARD CORE ultra-Conservative from a border state. When I go to the local gas station, I'd rather pull my eyes out than let my kids go in past the Mexican gang-bangers with their sleeve tat's and their sick looks at me and even my little girl. I want them GONE GONE GONE too. However, it is illogical to think they wouldn't create a gang war against whitey and my family and I just happen to be whitey, in their eyes.
Bush is not doing this out of a spiteful nature. You should think of the fights he's already had with liberal vetoes on this issue. I believe it is the liberals that we MUST GET OUT! STOP ATTACKING THE RIGHT and START HELPING THEM GET THE LEFT OUT!
On this issue, I have voiced my dismay to the GOP. How many of you took that route? We cannot continue with this leftist impeachment talk, even if it's not meant. I've heard every one of you standing up for Bush in the past. Are you going to buckle under the pressure of one issue (no matter how big) and sell his head to the left? Wow! I'm not comparing him to Jesus, but it sounds just like what the Jewish leaders did to him, after they watched his miracles. Forgive them Father for they know not what they do!
Bush made statements that were ABSOLUTELY CONTRADICTORY and they were AMNESTY for the law-breakers here. There are some here that would be good citizens. Not all are gang-bangers. Do I want to sell them out and send the whole lot of the illegals back? YES! It would be worth it- to me- to do so. However, I am human and humans are sinful by nature. What we as a group are responsible for is letting Bush remember that the conservative base is NOT generally minorities of lower to lower-middle class. He is welcoming them, for their vote or so it may appear. We must let him know it will (in great majority) go to the left.
Even most lower to lower-middle class un/under-skilled white people vote Demoncrat. They are usually not well educated and they make STUPID decisions, such as the aforementioned. We don't need more people here asking for hand-outs and votintg for them too. Instead he should tell them that the fast track is English language learning and military service. If they are non-military and they are here, we must feed them, offer them medical care and shelter, at our expense, when they are working for peanuts. The military works for US. The military is taught to honor our nation. It's that simple! Our country is known for charity and that's what the Bible SAYS Christians do. Although, I don't see that! The bottom line is that we MUST voice our concern, without reaching our carnal, nasty, battle of the fittest, human instincts. We MUST NOT SLANDER this president by pretending he's done NOTHING in 5-1/2 years, when we know very well he's done more than any president since Reagan.
As for the constitution, Mexicans must be learning something, because it states that children born here receive automatic citizenship. I believe we all know it is usually best for a child to be raised by it's parents. The left is CONSTANTLY trying to change the constitution to suit them. Are we stooping to their level?
My opinion on the issue: I think we should start deporting those who are not protected by the constitution. In every state there are many people who would join the Sheriff's volunteer posse to round up illegals, if ALL Sheriff's had one. One county's Sheriff has already processed around 200, since the recent law passed. That may not be much, but 200 a week per county in Border states adds up! I agree that the National Guard SHOULD be at our borders, but I also believe we could use many of them to go around (profiling- YES! I believe in profiling-even if the IRA starts sending female terrorists and I get the brunt of it) asking for ID. I am VERY much against NOT speaking our language. I agree with all of you that this was bogus and oxymoronic, but Bush has still been a great president. He has handled the GIANT plate full of crap that Clinton passed on to him (without mention) very well. Everybody, not criminal (criminal includes something DUI+) should be allowed to legally obtain citizenship. Deport illegals, when you catch them. Catch them when you see them. Disallow their assembly at OUR expense and IF they assemble anyhow, arrest the illegals. Tell Vincente Fox to relax and drink a big glass of tap water. Then he won't bother us. As for a lawsuit from Mexico, (WE ARE AMERICA) let any UN liberal judge who wishes to take us on know that we will impose a complete boycott on their goods and impose sanctions on any trade with the. Let them know that we will also NOT HELP them if they are attacked by a foreign nation. Who could afford to alienate us completely? I agree with Deep Throat that we should pray for our president AT LEAST DAILY.
I'd love to have you NAME the passage in the Bible that says "God helps those who help themselves". HOWEVER,it does say God helps those who pray regularly.

Ice Princess, "God helps those who help themselves" finds its way into the American lexicon by way of maxims that Ben Franklin tucked into his Poor Richard's Alamanac. While not necessarily Biblical, I'm comfortable in the belief that Ben knew a thing or two about the founders' vision of the American Republic.
As far as supporting Bush just for the sake of keeping the democrats at bay is concerned, while I have been called Mark-iavelli by some, there are some principles worth defending that are more important than partisan politics. If Bush and his Freeping Bush Bots get too comfortable in their belief that they can always count on the Conservative vote regardless of their actions, then America is in deep trouble, which is where we are today.
Like it or not, there needs to be a sea change in Washington among Republicans. We've held the House, Senate and White House, yet still can't manage swing the court back from the far Left. Our soldiers are mired in sand and sweat and blood, yet the Republican leadership is too afraid to take on Harry Reid.
Government spending is out of control, yet there are not enough funds to ensure that we have a large enough standing army & navy to adequately defend this country. Our armed forces are under assault not only by islamic enemies, but democrats and the American press at home, yet the President & company seems demure in their defense of these men and women.
Americans have allowed Bush & Company to impinge on our privacy rights in order to win the war against the terrorists, but they 'refuse' to protect America's borders out of fear of offending or impinging on the rights of illegal aliens.
This course annot continue without the Republican party losing its very soul. I have always been greatly concerned about the control of the Internationalist Elites & Cultural Illiteratti over the party. Too often the Republicans & democrats of this club sing from the same hymnal and its defintely not America the Beautiful.
Both Pat Buchanan & a fellow from the Dallas Morning News have excellent articles on the subject. Maybe its time for the current Republican leadership to be cast off to do some penance and regroup around right minded principles.
These supposed Republican leaders have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory one too many times and disregarded the people that put them in office.
Sorry Ice Princess but I can no longer stay frosty when it comes to supporting Bush.

Bravo Ice Princess! You said it well!
I am half hispanic raised in Los Angeles. My Grandfather, Grandmother and mother came here legally in 1914. They waited a long time to get their permits to come here and work. Once they were here they took advantage of the system, legally. They worked their butts off cleaning houses, caring for the elderly, playing voilin at the local venues at night and working by day at the Gas Co. in LA.
What did they do with that money? They Raised us in Catholic schools. They bought homes in the LA beach area and they told us that speaking ENGLISH FIRST was more important. Spanish was a SECOND language because we were in the USA not Mexico. They taught us that EDUCATION was a priority and God was the light of our lives.
What happened to this kind of thinking? I don't know but I do know that the Italian immigrants did it along with the Irish and all the other legalized immigrants processed through Ellis Island.
Sneaky people who come into our borders without respect for our country, like Mexicans and Muslim country citizens should be dealt with through the law and processed out of America before their rotten influence of disrespect and attitude of entitlement ruins the minds of all of our CHILDREN....They risk the possibility that they may grow up with the liberal attitude that accepting such behavior is merely "Civil Liberties". Let's control that by simply enacting the laws that already exist. Just put them to work without liberal obstructionism.
Yes Jesus is Lord and we were commanded to witness that to the world. Bush has done it despite the arrows of criticism. Ice, God hears your voice and obviously you hear His!
Markedman -My concern for you is that, you have expresseded the very thing I pointed out in my above blog. You need to learn that God is in control of the lives of those who listen to him. You will also need to read the back of the Bible which tells us in the final chapter "God, Jesus and His people WIN!" Based on your blog as the "Dog in the Manger", you still need to get right with God. Do it while you are still breathing here on earth.

Deep Throat, I'm about as right with God as an Irish-Catholic-Angel-with-a-dirty-face can get, and comforatble with the fact that God needs a certain amount of bad boys to undertake some of the uglier tasks that need doing.
Like you, my grand parents came here. albeit on the Paddy Boat from Ireland in the 1920s. They too did the dirty and menial jobs that the New York City swells felt were beneath their station, but managed to ensure that their children and grandchildred were educated and served in the military.
My concern with Bush is that he is punishing the huddled masses that yearn to breathe free who are on line to join us as Americans, while rewarding those who appear to have no repect for those who are waiting on line. I can remember the shock and upset after hearing a tale from a woman from Guatamala that my wife was tutoring in English. She had hit the lucky number in the lottery to gain admittance but had difficulty getting her husband into the country. He would eventually gain admittance some years later.
What makes America great is that we are one nation under God, despite coming from all corners of the earth: E Pluribus Unum, out of the many, one! It is important to the survival of this country that we continue to be a melting pot of nations and languages bound by a common language and belief that God has endowed us with the right to freely live and believe.
Unfortunately now-a-days we are so hung up on what sets us apart instead of focusing on what binds us together, and punish those who obey our immigration laws while rewarding those who don't. This is a sin I cannot support, nor can I support those who either tacitly or directly contribute to this sin, even if that person has been born again.

It is easy for me to comment or make my opinion known to you but I am not the person that counts here. You are! In God's eyes and in that Jesus died for you, You will be the only one to face Them Both in the end.
The end for you and me will not be when Jesus comes back to retrieve Israel but rather ours is the day we die. Be ready because all these matters of state and the evils of man will mean nothing on the day of our death. Alexander the Great and Julius Ceasar are in the history books of mankind but they are probably not in the "Lamb's Book of Life". Only what you did for God will matter. Just make sure it was God's will and not yours.
Pray and listen. The gift of the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, is the guiding light to our lives being hooked up with God's will. Don't overlook it because He will call us on it, when we get there.

Hear Ye, One and All; Could we stick just a little closer to the core issue: National Security and how the sub-heading Border Security is effected by Illegal Immigration, & how that may be solved. Sure I'll pray for our leaders, but 1st let's be sure they know why we are praying for them. Some of us are on dial-up, &it takes time to to connect & read this stuff. Some of you are so far off point & long winded you're wasting a lot of the rest of our time. Trade e-mail addresses or go to a Chat room. PUHLEEZE!

I KNOW before you say it, I to have been guilty of long-winded speeches & personal banter. But I hope my long stuff has been directed to the main subject & I think I've kept the personals short. Check it out on past post.

The reason I'm in this mood is I'm being forced against my will to SEEK a LOWER standard of living.

blog: a shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about their PERSONAL experiences and hobbies; an online diary to reflect the blogger's personality. My personality is large. Also, I have a profile on here with an email address. I am open to communicating that way. However, I do believe we are FREE to express our opinions, no matter how long-winded. Also, you are FREE to pass up reading ALL or Part of these long-winded opinions.
As for "Sure I'll pray for our leaders, but 1st let's be sure they know why we are praying for them". Technically, by the Lord's words, we should put the prayer first. Then we will know with MUCH greater clarity what to say to these people.

We don't differ in opinions about WHAT is wrong and what is Right, regarding the immigration issue. We differ in our beliefs, obviously. When speaking of religion and what to do, you cannot achieve the correct answer from ANY man/ woman, no matter the wisdom. They are ALL simple human beings. The answers to things that have a tight grip on us are ONLY in the Bible.
Have you ever been clinically dead? I have. Technically I'm not even here. However, thankfully I was putting the Lord first when it happened. Prayer can actually work miracles of things (even the impossible). I was without O2 for 15 minutes, due to a small procedure performed by an Atheist doctor. He's not the same person.
The point is, if this is right and we pray about it we'll know we are wrong. If we are right and we pray, especially for God's will (especially if in Bulk, as a party) we will get results. The results may/ may not be exactly what we asked for. However, the FAITH that we give to God, will move mountains, if they need to be moved.
As a human, there are many days I'd like to go out and start shooting and many times my temper alone could start a forest fire. However, that is NO way to live regularly, especially since you will likely die sooner and go to a questionable place.
As far as the party switching threat, where will you go? Are you okay with throwing away a vote to the Independents? How about the Demoncrats? Are you A okay with helping them to allow Partial Birth Abortion, Human Euthanasia, unrestricted abortion (at the cost of taxpayers), raised taxes, gun control, etc.? If the answer is Yes, then you would be a RINO.
What is more important to you? Would you rather get through the rest of Bush's presidency, writing him and those in the Republican party letters about how this issue needs to change or you will be lost to them? Or would you rather gripe about the issue with us, threatening to switch parties and get nothing from the Right, in the future? Let's not forget that many fence-sitters and impressionable people see intelligent posts from the Right and decide that you are smart, so if you are going elsewhere to vote, so am I.
Then, with this anger, you will likely be smart enough to vote RIGHT next elections and 5 people for each smart Republican saying: Impeach, switch sides, etc. will go left and we will lose. Finally, we have another 8 years with a Clinton in office. That may be a long point, but it's my point.

Kudos for your open expression of FAITH.

Getting back on topic, more or less, what brilliant moves in the Senate on Thursday. Leaving the basic confusion alone for a moment, consider the manic ravings by Sen. Reid claiming that making English the official language would be racist.
For once in his life, he is actually close to the truth. While not racist in the sense that American’s are of a particular race we are a collective group. If we have gotten along swell for the past 300+ years speaking the King’s English, why change now?
But, even as he skirted a truism for once, an aide alerted him to his statement and he retracted/redefined part of it as he was exhibiting his typical logorrhea. Reid and the rest of the panty-waist, weak-sisters in Congress exemplify all that is wrong with America in his simple statement that it is racist to speak one, common language.
Here is the greater problem and I absolutely defy you to disagree. Congress can not effectively legislate due to the fatal combination of kowtowing to any and every minority and special interest group, having the need to compromise every single issue that they face and being testicle deficient. Here is how the Congress sees this issue:
Given: English is the common tongue of America.
Given: That is racist.
Given: Many foreign speakers have come to our country legally or illegally.
Given: We want to make them feel at home.
Given: We can’t possibly make them speak English.
Given: For the sake of expediency there ought be one, common language.
Given: English is STILL racist.
Given: We do not want to appear to be giving in to Hispanics.
Therefore: We will all speak Dutch.
You laugh, but it is not far from the truth.
God Bless, God Speed, God Help Us All!

ICEY; Thank you for that refreshing rebuke, I needed that to snap me back to reality, which is that the MSM, DNC, & the special-interest group of your choice has brought out the -wait for it- THE RACE CARD - racist this, bigot that, screw U CNN. What issue of the day would be complete without THE RACE CARD? I bask in the AMERICAN RACE, speak ENGLISH! U can take THE RACE CARD and insert it where there is NO SOLAR PENETRATION. This Illegal Alien Immigrant Interloper issue is about the republic & Liberty & freedom without which none of these Aliens would have a reason to come here, Why? because without them there would be no more jobs here than there.

ICEY: the above post was not directed at you specially after the word 'back', where it became a RANT & I just wanted to add that our elected officials need to get their heads in the correct mode or get out of our Capitol, our White House, and our Way.
