American Clown Journalism 101
Printer FriendlyBy: Michelle Malkin
Journalists around the world are being targeted by suicide bombers, threatened with "hate crimes" prosecutions and thrown in jail for defending a free press from crazed Islamists.
You wouldn't know it from the circus-show antics of the American media.
Vice President Dick Cheney, as you all are aware from the Beltway press corps' incessant flapping and yapping, was involved in an accidental shooting during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas. The victim is recovering.
It's the me-me-media hyperventilators who need intensive care.
Peacock Network News correspondent David Gregory, whose self-absorption rivals the leading brand of paper towels, threw a snit fit over the 18-hour delay in public disclosure of the incident. His exchange on Monday with White House press secretary Scott McClellan was a walking advertisement for beta blockers.
McClellan: "David, hold on, the cameras aren't on right now. You can do this later."
Gregory: "Don't accuse me of trying to pose to the cameras. Don't be a jerk to me personally when I'm asking you a serious question."
McClellan: "You don't have to yell."
Gregory: "I will yell! If you want to use that podium to try to take shots at me personally, which I don't appreciate, then I will raise my voice, because that's wrong!"
McClellan: "Calm down, Dave, calm down."
Gregory: "I'll calm down when I feel like calming down!"
Funny thing is, I can't recall the mainstream media melting down over the 30-hour delay -- presided over by Hillary Clinton, according to internal records -- in releasing the late White House counsel Vincent Foster's suicide note to authorities and her own husband. Can you?
News anchors who couldn't find the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights if you put it under klieg lights pontificated about 28-gauge shotguns and hunting etiquette. CNN personality Kyra Phillips, in a rare moment of cable news humility, giggled self-consciously as she asked a correspondent to explain the difference between birdshot and bullets. "I think I might sound stupid," I heard her say.
Yes, but at least she didn't look stupid.
On that front, Washington Post reporter Dana Milbank outdid them all. Appearing on MSNBC to provide his fair and balanced analysis of the political fallout from Cheney's accident, Milbank donned a blaze orange stocking hat and matching reflective vest. Emulating a hunter in danger of being shot by Cheney, Milbank looked more like a Hooters parking attendant. Or a colorblind "Where's Waldo?" wannabe. Or a fugitive from a prison crew assigned to pick up roadside trash on Interstate 495.
"Lighten up," you say. Okay. I suggest the Washington Post run a large color photo of the costumed Dana Milbank with his bylined pieces from now on. That way, all readers may enjoy the hilarity every time Milbank's work as "Washington Post National Political Reporter" is published as objective news.
The bad joke of American journalism is made all the more odious by the plight of endangered defenders of press freedom abroad. Last week, Abdel Halim Akram Sabra, editor of the independent weekly Al-Hurriya, journalist Yahya Al Aabed and editor of the Yemen Observer Mohammed Al Asaadi, were arrested for publishing the Mohammed Cartoons -- something most of our right-to-know poseurs in the U.S. media still refuse to do.
The arrested journalists' newspapers, along with another publication, Al Rai Al Aam, have all been shut down for printing the cartoons, which were first published by the Jyllands-Posten in Denmark five months ago to underscore the chilling effect of Islamism on European artists. In Johannesburg, South Africa, the high court allowed a Muslim group to pre-emptively block the publication of the cartoons by the nation's leading weekly, the Sunday Times.
In Calgary, Canada, the publishers of the Jewish Free Press and Western Standard magazine face civil lawsuits by local Muslims for publishing the cartoons. In Jordan and Algeria, a total of four other journalists face trial for publishing the cartoons. The original cartoonists have been targeted by Islamic terrorist groups and are in hiding.
Yet, here we are, as embassies blaze and editors cower in fear and radical imams ululate against the West, watching our esteemed media go Looney Tunes over an isolated hunting accident.
Who do you think will have the last laugh?

I think the free press in this country would be in a hell of a lot worse condition If not for the courage of Michelle Malkin and a few others in the Blogesphere. The mainstream press has acted in a cowardly fashion.

I am hopeful that Mr. Whittington (78 yrs. old) doesn't die within the next ten years. They'll be after Cheney to charge him with murder. The American public sees right through the media's left-wing bias. Thank goodness we have the brightest and best on our side.

The only thing worse than the bias main stream media are the people that swallow their babble like ice cream. The continued dumbing down of America is full speed ahead.

A bastion of integrity is being overlooked in this travestry of liberal media bias and hypocracy. Sen. Ted Kennedy (yes, the Cape Cod Orca himself)should certainly be consulted about the timely release of information. Remember a
Mary Jo....a bridge....water....booze....Teddy ? How soon they forget.

Michelle may be an opinion journalist, but her pieces reflect more truth than "objective" journalists. Dana Milbanks, showboating with his ridiculous Dr. Seus ski cap and vest, believing his costume lends weight to his absurd comments regarding the murderous intentions of Dick Cheney. David Gregory, with his seriously grey hair coaxed into some sort of jounalistic bait to trap ignorant consumers of news into believing whatever he and his hair have to say regarding this same homicidal maniac. These two, along with their other unassuming and bashful comrades in the press, actually believe we are panting for their version of the news . This reader will no longer pay to be irritated by their bombastic hyperbole. And bored with it's predictable nature. Michelle Malkin is a breath of fresh air permeating the stall, moldy news of the self absorbed and is richly deserving of a hearty "AMEN".

As I've written elsewhere, what a lot of those in the media aren't telling you is that the Muslims are now controlling the major media - OF THE WORLD! Not only are they stripping away the Rights of American Citizens....they now believe that they should have control of the worldwide media - and in many, many cases they are getting away with it!
Does noone in authority see the big picture here? Do they not see that our Rights, too, here in America are being compromised?
Are we allowed, for example, to pray in public? What to you think would happen if our Christian Churches and Jewish Temples started playing prayers and hymns over a loud speaker several times a day? Do you honestly believe they'd get away with that? Yet Mosques are doing exactly that! - and if anyone objects, they are accused of hate crimes!
We are NOT allowed in public to proselytize in the public square. We are NOT allowed to speak disparagingly in public of Islam - even if we are speaking truthful statements, lest we be charged with hate crimes. Our school students cannot pray in schools, nor can they even carry a Bible to school with them. Yet some schools are getting away with requiring the students to dress as Muslims and "live" as Muslims over several days - including saying Muslim prayer - and that is called "cultural diversity education". Muslims demonstrate and burn buildings and kill innocent bystanders because of ONE cartoon. Yet artists are allowed to "create" garbage like "piss christ" and the Virgin Mary created with elephant dung or whatever - and it's payed for with OUR TAX DOLLARS - and we can say NOTHING about it!
Do you not realize, dear fellow Americans, that our Freedoms are being stripped away - and we stand idly by and accept it with nought more than an occasional cluck of the tongue! We MUST fight to regain and retain our Constitutionally guaranteed Rights - and prevent the loss of any more! Join us - or join with some solid group and start fighting for your Rights before we have lost any more! go to www.stoptheaclu.org - Join us, please! Check out our blog at www.stoptheaclu.com and join in the discussion. If you want to know what the Liberal world would look like, I strongly suggest you read "The Age of Tolerance" by Glen Reinsford.....the guy's a genius! It is a novel - but he's used actual events and words of Gore et al to create this story.....and it does not, believe me, seem that far-fetched!
GOD BLESS AMERICA! MAY WE ALWAYS STAY STRONG! MAY WE ALWAYS RETAIN OUR JUDEO-CHRISTIAN FOUNDATIONS WHICH HAVE MADE US STRONG!

The sight of Dana Milbank garbed in International Orange corrected one misperception and cemented one fact for me. First, I'd always thought "Dana Milbank" was a girl. Now I know he's, at best, a "girly man." Second, I'll never see the byline "Dana Milbank" again without thinking of him in his clown suit. What a "putz" if you'll excuse the Yiddish.

Amazing to hear Hillary Clinton bash the White House for not putting out a statement about the Cheney incident for 18 hours. It was OVER 24 hours before the Clinton White House made public the death of the White House Chief of Staff, alleged suicide. I didn't see the media, especially NBC, leftist Gregory, whinning about it. Why am I not suprised.

As usual, you folks over here in the Red States are screaming about the free press while at the same time condemning other countries that don't have a free press.
Which one would you really prefer? What do you really want? Do you understand that that is why America has a First Amendment, and are you FOR the Constitution or against it?
Most of you post on here that you are ANTI-American,and ANTI-Constitution, because you support the President allowing warrantless wire-taps in violation of the 4th Amendment. Fair enough, I've been on here long enough to see that you either missed Civics class, or that you would prefer a Soviet-style oligarchy.
I also love how you pat yourselves on the back because you think you're all so tough because you know how to fire a shotgun at little birds for fun. Real "manly men!" Oook! Oook!!
Guess what, assclowns... it ain't that tough, and you're not manly because you can take down captive pheasant with a $10,000 Perazzi 28-gauge.
I'm a true-BLUE Progressive Liberal (which means that I'm more intelligent and understand the world better than 90% of red state, backward-ass hicks) and I support the Second Amendment and understand the CONSTITUTION.
You guys CAN NOT HAVE the Constitution both ways.
Either you are FOR a free press (even when it prints things about your beloved assh*le, Dick Cheney, who is a draft-dodging war-profiteer AND a liar) or you are AGAINST it.
And if you are against it, you're anti-American.
I don't understand why so many of you right-wing hicks are anti-Clinton. It's amazing, your hate. At least he did not cause the death of thousands of American Fighting Men and Women in false wars. At least he ran a surplus economy.
You support a fake good ol' boy (Yale-bred, Connecticut-raised silver spoon OIL MAN George Bush, who snorted cocaine, had a DUI, and was a draft dodger) yet you rail against Clinton, who presided over a conservative economy that ran record surpluses that Bush and Rove and Cheney have flushed down the drain, all while lying to you about Iraq and sending your kids off to die to protect his oil and Halliburton interests.
When are you all going to SEE THROUGH these guys? They are LIARS. They are COVER-UP artists. Their actions are resulting in you all living in terror of phantoms (meaning, they are letting the terrorists accomplish their main goal: to make us give up our freedoms.)
Your support of people who lie to you, who monger fear to you so that they can violate your American Rights, and who encourage you to send your kids off to die in an oil-rich country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11 and everything to do with Bush and Cheney's oil and weapons buddies, is insane.
You are all terrified and deluded, and you need to wake the h___ up.
Bye for now.
Oh, as for Cheney, I could care less, hope the old guy is OK. But it is a FAIR question to ask why a sitting vice-president who actually DID shoot someone (unlike the ridiculous idea that Hillary Clinton killed Vince Foster) waited 20 hours to tell his (supposed) boss, Mr. Bush.
I notice that Karl Rove was called within 90 minutes, however.
Hahahahaha.

Sox! why, it's been almost 2 weeks since I've read your dark vitriol! How I've missed your anger, your septic commentary, and your charming way of referring to us silly ol' Republican morons as "ass-clowns". What is an "ass-clown" anyway? It is representative of the sort of foul language used by teenagers and twenty-somethings with an axe to grind against the establishment. Like I have asked before, Sox, kindly make your point and then move on. You can leave the arrogant name calling to the dance clubs and the after school parking lot hang outs. Genuine arguments are appreciated here, but infantile name calling simply detracts from whatever good points you may actually make. And by the way, you and your ilk give way too much credit to Karl Rove. You people seem to think he's some kind of pudgy Darth Vader intent on ruling the Universe in his iron grip. Now who sounds a little hysterically paranoid?

Michelle and the other commentors are absolutely right! I am an ex-liberal who has had enough of fools like sox. I've enclosed a letter to the editor of the Sacramento Bee, which has refused to print 100% of my letters so far, while endlessly printing leftist hate-speech letters.
As an artist and a teacher, I can see young sox has not availed himself of an education. Here is my letter:
Letter: Editor, Sacramento Bee
The Bee's cowardly fear of publishing even one of the so-called cartoons which have generated such highly organized and state sponsored violent Moslem reaction, underscores the Bee's vile hypocrisy re: it's secular hatred of religion generally. Even as I queried an editor on the cartoons, he reflexively attacked Christian fundimentalists and Isreal (the implied danger of), in his apology for and fear of, Moslem outrage. Bee editors kowtow to thuggish intellectual cowardice, if it is anti-American, in service of their own Marxist p.c. god. I personally support all real religionists, including Moslems.
The Bee shields Moslem murder and enslavement of blacks to this very minute, by means of refusal to really report: just as the Bee has killed American soldiers and killed more Iraquis using it's pages to traitorously broadcast Al Quieda's "exploits", then lies to us by refusing to show the increasingly powerful Iraqui
support and gratitude for our American sacrifice, in Iraq, for the Iraqui people.
The Bee's cowardice is the first step for it's feminist supporters to be wearing chadoras and living under total male domination. Handcuffed by p.c., the Bee, like Moussowi, is part of Al Quieda.

My goodness SoxSweepAgain! You must have felt as if you ran a marathon after that post!
Assuming you are a Red Sox fan, I will say you have excellent taste in baseball teams. However, putting that one thing we have in commom aside (which grants me a degree of intelligence), I am curious about something. What freedom have you personally lost? I will give you the airport hassles we all face when flying, but other than that, what specific freedom has been taken from you that has gotten you so worked up?
By the way, I have never hated Clinton. I simply had no respect for him.

Hey Sox, AKA "It's all about me" AKA "Mr. Selfish, I don't care about other people, only my freedom of rights to whine out loud" AKA "Pink Sox",
You still avoid the issue of "Brokeback Mountain". For all your whining you still do not exemplify the image of a real man. Having your butt in camos on the front line in Iraq might save you. Hopefully it would save us from your vile talk right after you try to make friends with your liberal al-queda suicide bomber friends.
No one said Hillary killed Foster except you, clown! None of us conservatives, including the Hicks and the Christians, said we hate Clinton. Those are your hateful words.
You seem to forget the people on your side, like Teddy buying his way out of manslaughter or Clinton "I never inhaled" or "I did not have sexual relations with that woman.......Ms.Lewinsky" or "It depends on which meaning of the word 'is' you are referring to" No, there are no liars in your camp! In looking at them I see where you get your inspiration. Even Clinton lied to the Gay community when he reversed his promise to gays in the military. Yet you still hold him in admiration.
Clinton and Christopher insisted that Israel release Muhammed Atta during their administration. Guess who showed up flying into Tower #1. Then you blame Bush because it happened during his administration. It cost money to defend Americans. It also takes guts. Something you don't have.
So answer us, "Mr. pink panties", do you hate all women like Ann & Michelle or just your mother? Get help you Jerk! And get lost!

Hey, Deep Throat, why don't you get Bush's cock out of there?
I wouldn't go to Iraq to fight for Bush's friends access to oil if you paid me.
Any of you who think our fighting men in Iraq are there to fight for "Freedom" are total idiots.
Our men and women are dying in raq so that Bush's friends, Cheneys friends and the friends that financed them, all keep a handle on the fourth-largets source of oil in the world.
Fighting in Iraq does ZERO for true Americans, and anyone who supports the Iraq war but does not hold an executive position in an oil company is deluding themselves.
You've all been sold a bill of goods, you bought it, you elected these clowns, and America is the worse for it.
Bush has done NOTHING but make the rest of the planet hate America, and in the process has spent us into record deficits that your kids will have to pay off someday.
And America today is LESS SAFE than it was before Bush.
Iraq and Freedom have NOTHING TO DO WITH EACHOTHER.
You all know it, but it makes you all feel tough to stomp on Iraq because we couldn't just go kill Osama bin Laden.
You know it, I know it, but you won't admit it.
Three more years of the sentence you red-state HICKS subjected us to, and then maybe we can get a REAL president in office, and fix this GREAT COUNTRY and restore ACTUAL freedom and our standing in the world.
Three more years.
G'bye, stupid hicks!

Sox is doing us all some sort of favor by exemplifying the spiritually dead, hated-filled mental condition of the glass is half empty leftist crowd. He isn't really different than the dark-intended editors of the Sacramento Bee that I've spoken with. They yell and hangup if you don't agree with their lies by omission and outright lies. If you call them on anything they instantly become defensive and angry. They're a lot smarter than sox, hence they don't swear, but their condescendence satisfies their need to swear. It is the same thing.
They understand clearly that they are smarter and better than
all those stupid, workers, hicks, red state people, taxpayers, etc. Therefore they don't have to listen to inferior people. I think they are closely allied with those who feel that the superior classes of people should rule the country, . . . those who are smarter and better, in service of their marxist god.
I am an artist and a teacher, hence a one-time liberal, but I've had my fill of brain-dead, anti-intellectual thugs like the unfortunate, unhappy sox; not to mention having watched the school systems fall into a bigtime waste of most people's time. I do have to say there are many good teachers still there, but none like sox.

Just to be fair about this ... I'm playing both sides here :)
My father ... old line LABOR Democrat, not a snooty nosed little Lib whimp ... likes the VP a lot better now days because he shot a Lawyer. Dad was being cynical, of course. He'd love to see Democrat lawyers shot up too. So, imagine that, his perspective was nothing like the media's.
As for me, I think Cheney would have done better to shoot a journalist ... then we could have conspiracy theories forever and ever.
Where was the media when Hillary was running around loose with all of those FBI documants that she shouldn't have had in her possession in the first place? ... and her being a lawyer and all ... you know, the ones that are still missing.
And people worry about wire taps from homeland security ... yeah ... unh-huh.
But, yes, it is news when the VP shoots somebody. God knows he had a draft deferment back in the Nam era. But, and this is too obvious, if Dan Rather shot somebody, he'd probably be in shock and not do the right thing immediately ... and get a free pass from the sympathetic media ... the way he gave Kennedy a free pass on Mary Jo.
Ya gotta love the 'un-biased' free press of America. If it wasn't for them, BLOGs would never have succeeded :)
I'm not disagreeing with you Michelle ... you're absolutely right on with this ... everyone with a brain knows the media are bought and sold to the rich Lefty elitists ... so the best way to expose the modern leftist media is to demonstrate how little they have to do with LABOR and the average working American family.
Take Sox for example ... is he anybody's kid???
Posted by: Athling
at February 16, 2006 06:26 PM
I think that you hit on something, Athling. Pink Sox's ancestry and pedigree is in question. Maybe he doesn't know who his parents (or at least his father) is either. It might explain his hatred. On the other hand, maybe he does know....and that is what is upsetting him.
But, enough of the psychoanalysis. Michelle, you have a great column. I had to double check to see if it was you or Ann Coulter that I was reading. It was hilarious. The press is a bunch of cowards: they know that the Muslim terrorists will target them for publishing cartoons of Mohammed, but Dick Cheney et al Republicans will do nothing to them.

Sox is an agent. That should be clear by his consistently wrongheaded postings. Red is surely the color of sox he/she or it prefers.
A free press does not include treason or sedition. That should be obvious even to persons who don't think at all but rather repeat a line vomited into their little ears by lefty idiots hoping to destroy our way of life.
Blue versus red is more about WW's I and II than we are giving thought. The liberals loved Lenin and the whole communist ideal, particularly the notion of dispensing with God and religion.
They loved Hitler and eugenics, particularly the idea that they could get rid of the inferior among "them" (the sick, old, retarded, Jewish and Black). They remain loyal to this ideal to this day. Witness the Planned parenthood zeal. The right to abortion is not for blue blood liberals. It's for poor blacks. And that is exactly who has been being "culled" out of the population by abortion.Roosevelt and Truman both were warned that their administrations were penetrated by Russian spy's but they didn't believe it because they were good Liberals from good Ivy league schools. This garbage has continued till this very day and has gotten worse.
Now our vaunted free press is filled with brain dead, brain washed, liberal democrat puppets without a single "ethic" between them. These media agents are no more unbiased than this Sox rectum who regularly "dumps" his load in these blogs. The only difference is they are more widely read.

Thinker,
You know exactly what you are talking about.
Notice how Sox goes ballistic when anyone states that the Fascists and Nazis are socialists? This is part of their dis-information game ... and a chicken-s*** way to side-step the truth.
The NAZIs were not Fascists ... the dirty little secret all of the socialists try to hide is that the NAZIs were EUGENIC MARXISTS ... scarey huh :)
Notice how they worship FDR?
The Eugenic Marxists are here in America ... Sanger Movement, FDR Eugenics councils, and now Planned Parenthood. Note how they encourage the genetically flawed males to become homosexuals who hate 'Babes with Brains'? Makes you wonder what Eugenic Marxists are really all about, huh?
So be very glad Sox is here ... he is the living, spewing proof of what the Progressive Libs are really all about.
But not to worry ... the people who opted into the Progressively Demented Libertine movement are not breeding and will be extinct by 2040. Their hold on the American process is dwindling every year. They will cease to be relevant by mid-21st century, and a historical footnote about how idiots always breed themselves into oblivion.
Only the faithful Catholics and Protestants and Jews are going to be around in large numbers long after these morons are extinct. And, best of all, America goes on without these pervs around messing things up.
